The second Dedicated Commuter Lane (DCL) is in the final planning stages to open at the Ysleta-Zaragoza Bridge by the end of 2004.
December 1, 2004 -- The second Dedicated Commuter Lane (DCL) is in the final planning stages to open at the Ysleta-Zaragoza Bridge by the end of 2004. Remodeling by both the U.S. and Mexico is underway at the Zaragoza POE along with new technology which is also being installed at the Stanton Street DCL . It is anticipated that this DCL will allow for unregistered passengers to get out of the car and cross on the overhead pedestrian bridge to then be met on the other side. This is viewed as being extremely important for out of town visitors to facilities in Cd. Juarez.
In 1999, the Stanton Street Dedicated Commuter Lane – the first DCL between Texas and Mexico – opened after three years of intensive FTA work and partnership with the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce, INS, US Customs, and Mexico’s Camino y Puentes Federales governmental commission.”
